Walter Allenby Peace Ryder was born on Armistice Day 1918 and was named after army generals of the time and the most important fact - Peace - the end of the First World War. The other twin was born just after midnight on the 12th November 1918. One boy had fair hair and the other dark hair and they were always known as 'Darky' and 'Fairy'.
